THE CHALLENGE
Environmental health concerns and the presence of unhoused individuals in Atlanta’s Fairlie-Poplar district have negatively impacted the overall community experience.
This project proposes organizing a community cleaning festival with the goal of improving the overall environment and public spaces in the Fairlie-Poplar district. The event is designed to bring together residents, local workers, and volunteers to help clean and beautify the neighborhood, fostering a stronger sense of community, pride, and shared responsibility for the area’s well-being.
THE GOAL
The primary goal of the Fairlie-Poplar Cleaning Festival is to address environmental challenges.
Additionally, it will serve as a catalyst for reducing food waste by collaborating with nearby restaurants to repurpose surplus food. This event also aims to create opportunities for community members to showcase their efforts and skills, fostering a sense of achievement. Ultimately, the festival seeks to enhance the neighborhood’s environment while providing meaningful work opportunities.
